SSA on Screen
In February
of 2005, the Society of Scottish Artists, one of the oldest and most influential
artists’ collectives in this country, launched a new platform for
showing artists’ video work during the SSA annual exhibition. The
continuous screening of the work of ten artists selected from an international
open submission proved so popular that the SSA is now happy to announce
the launch of SSA on Screen 2006.
This extraordinary and varied 40-minute programme will include work by
11 international artists. No video is longer than 5_ minutes, with the
shortest being a mere 30 seconds. The screening of the works at four Scottish
venues will be followed by a discussion regarding the nature of video
art in Scotland.
