| Invited Student Works The need to represent
new trends & developments in contemporary art has been met head
on by the council of the SSA over the past 7 years through its policy
of inviting two graduating students from each of the Scottish art
colleges to exhibit their work outwith the open submission procedure.
The 4 degree shows are explored in detail in May/June of each year
by council members, offering a valuable over-view of what is coming
through as the future of the visual arts in Scotland. This pick
of the most exciting and talented students are then invited to participate
in the annual show with full support from the SSA in terms of hospitality,
installation and catalogue representation. Works of ambitious scale
or complex structure are welcomed, and the students are offered
this great opportunity for their work to be seen for the first time
in a professional, public gallery context.
