JACQUI HIGGS

Statement

My current practice involves on-site drawings within a variety of settings: industrial areas, urban town spaces, mountains and seascapes.

My creative process involves developing on-site small scale work into large scale paintings using a variety of materials – inks, washes, varnishes, text and occasional monoprinting to describe a multi-layered surface – animal figuration often features in much of my work.

I am currently working on images collected from the North East coastline – I propose to superimpose these images onto contrasting setting of the sealine – this co-incides with a solo exhibition of mine currently touring the North East of Scotland.
