Carol Moore was born in Glasgow and now lives in West Dunbartonshire, working from a studio near her home.

Interested by the representation of the land and its power to influence our lives her work has its roots in the "incidental" landscapes found in the background of Renaissance portraits and sacred works. Many of her paintings are influenced strongly by medieval art.

"Camino" and "Dreaming" form part of a series of paintings dealing with the subject of journeys across the land, with particular reference to the Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in north west Spain.

Another area of her work is her continuing passion for still life. From vibrantly colourful pastels to the more gentle hues of water colour and acrylic and collage techniques, she finds pleasure in the everyday objects of domestic life or the abundance of texture and colour in friut, vegetables, fish and flowers.

Carol Moore works mainly on paper and regularly exhibits in galleries in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bath and London. Future plans include a one woman show for the year 2000 in a gallery on the outskirts of Glasgow, which will be based on the Pilgrim theme.
