My paintings aim to evoke a magical atmosphere sometimes found in the parallel world of the theatre. With no human scale for comparison, the subject matter ranges from puppets, toy theatres and mechanical toys to quotations from Renaissance paintings and is often set against a background of Italian landscapes. The multi layered technique aims to create a warm nostalgic glow which allows the viewers personal memories and imaginations to be stirred and is reminiscent of the moment in a theatre when the curtain rises and belief is suspended.
