SSA Member and SSA Council Member David Faithfull references the three eras of coal, nuclear and wind power, and their enduring legacies in East Lothian in the second exhibition of Peter Potter Gallery’s ambitious Monument Project.
The vast architectural xenolith of Cockenzie, its two dark-tipped towers the guardians of the Forth, is considered together with the subterranean chasms of sedimentary core at Torness, and the contentious wind turbines of Aikengall. To some, these turn with the serenity of Zephyrus, to others they are the grindings of a fiendish visual dystopia.
Each of these three generations of elemental energies, defines our landscape, a residue of contradictions and a testament to mankind’s ingenuity, endeavour and ignorance, depending on one’s individual viewpoint.
Pop along to Peter Potter. play ‘The Energy Game’ and enjoy some refreshments on Friday 12 April, 6-8pm
