The 1999 SSA exhibition continued the tradition of combining high artistic standard with stylistic diversity showing 282 pieces of work overall, the exhibition was favourably reviewed by critics and artists alike. As well as the open submission works which were selected from a vast and high quality open submission, six Japanese artists were invited to contribute to the exhibition which added a clear sense of cultural interchange to the event.
