In my painting I am currently exploring the transient visual experience of glimpsing into the story and heritage of a place visited on a short stay. Short-lived shadows affect the appearance of the surfaces, thus creating their own textural stories of the landscape and man-made structures. By working back through multiple layers of colour to create an effect of natural erosion producing similarities to natural surfaces worn by the elements, I aim to reveal a previous layer, a story from before brought up to date, the richness and the complexity of the story of a particular place.
