Jessica Copping's practice articulates a post-apocalyptic worldview, that combines humanities fading presence with elements from nature to question how long man will live in respect to deep time and to comment on the culpability of our actions against the environment for humans now and humans to come. Recent work uses the traditional medium of egg tempera to create paintings, which integrate illusionary drawing and painting techniques with abstract minimalist surfaces. When viewed collectively the works form a complex web of signification, where bursts of detail, colour and abstract forms add to the overall atmosphere and meaning.

Jessica Copping is a graduate from Norwich University of the Arts (BA Fine Art (HONS) and Glasgow School of Art (MLITT). Recent exhibitions include College Natural 2016, China, Collective Memory, Bushwick Open Studios, New York, Exquisite Corpse, St Andrews Museum, St Andrews and GSA Graduate Degree Show, Tontine, Glasgow.
