Statement

“Our memory is our coherence, our reason, our feeling, even our action. Without it we are nothing.” Luis Bunuel, filmmaker

I am a visual artist interested in the fragmentary nature of memory and identity. My work is developed by an exploration of the physical world through drawing, painting, photographing/filming and also through collecting resonant objects from the natural landscape and urban environments. Found materials that allude to the past, a common past, my own past are reassembled, eroded, combined, tracing the process of change and encoding new meanings... At the core is a conceptual exploration inspired by Louise Bourgeois, Joseph Cornell, Susan Hiller.
