OPPORTUNITY TO ALL SSA MEMBERS
Deadline: 5pm on Friday 30 October.
Along with the move back to their refurbished premises this autumn, Ramsay Cornish Auctioneers intend to produce a new catalogue design for their Specialist auctions.
Ramsay Cornish is a family run auction house which has been established for fourteen years, firmly Scottish but selling nationally and internationally. The auction house has a busy sale calendar, the busiest in central Scotland, selling everything from the everyday item to the unusual and amazing. This year they achieved the record price of £53,000 for a painting by Robert Burns who played a significant part in the Edinburgh Arts and Crafts movement.
Susan Cornish, a director of the company and former SSA Administrator, has proposed to award a prize for the design of the cover for the Specialist Auction catalogues, open to all SSA members. The Specialist sale category includes paintings, silver and jewellery, Oriental ceramics and artefacts, antique furniture and objects. Around six Specialist sales are held each year. The catalogue size is A5 – although the image can be A4 folded. (Note that the design and layout of the catalogues will be produced by the company’s designers.) It might be useful for any artist who wishes to submit to look at the Ramsay Cornish website, www.ramsaycornish.com or please feel free to come down to visit the saleroom, our next Specialist sale is held in September 2015.
Creative and surprising entries invited.
As well as acknowledgement to the artist on the inside cover, further information about the prize and the artist will feature on the Ramsay Cornish website which receives 12,000 national and international hits a month. In addition an award of £200 will be made to the successful artist.
