‘The Scottish landscape is rightly famous for its startling diversity, with remarkable differences between regions, viewpoints and dramatic changes through time – even minute by minute. Landscape art, too, can be very different – from purely representational to abstract works driven by emotional responses. This exhibition seeks to explore and celebrate the rich variety within the genre. Important works from the Scottish Borders Council’s Permanent Collection of Fine Art, including the likes of William Johnstone and John McNairn, will be shown alongside an exciting range of contemporary works by invited artists.’
