The SSA | BAG ArtCamp

(w)ORD is a cultural and creative collaboration between Scottish and Norwegian Artists looking at common historical, cultural and geographical connections.

It was initiated by the Society of Scottish Artists and the Bergen Ateliergruppe and their BAG Art Camp Residency in 2017.

For the initial stage of the project, the co-curators of (w)ORD have selected four Scottish and four Norwegian artists on a week-long Residency on the Isle of Mull from 2nd – 9th June 2018. The four Scottish artists were selected from OPEN – SSA+VAS Together, 2018.

During the Residency the artists will participate in scheduled events, field trips and investigations with local geologists, naturalists and linguists, engaging with both the local environment and the local community.

The curators, SSA and RAG plan to hold a group exhibition of the (w)ORD artists in both countries as well as a reciprocal residency in Norway in 2019.
