Join the SSA website!

Why you should be on the SSA website:

Be included. Having an artist’s page on the SSA website will help you to promote your work in the context of an established artists’ organisation.

Promote yourself. Include the SSA website address on your letterhead, and your work can be seen anywhere in the world by potential galleries, agencies, buyers and friends.

Add your links. Having a page on the SSA website allows you to promote up to three other sites you have work on, making access to your work even easier.

Make new contacts. Artists have had new opportunities and commissions as a direct result of their presence on the SSA website.

Show your new work. Update images regularly to promote your latest developments.

Artists’ pages

Cost:
£35 to set up a new page
(artists must supply their images on disk – 5 images maximum)
£20 to update your page
(artists must supply their images on disk – 5 images maximum)
£15 in addition, if you do not supply your images on disk, to have up to five images scanned, colour balanced, cropped, etc, ready to put onto the website.

To avoid the £15 charge, scan your own images, and crop, adjust the colour balance, contrast, etc to suit your own taste, giving you complete control of how the image will look on screen. The web designer will not alter the image in any way. Save images onto disk, preferably PC-formatted floppy or CD.

These charges will allow you to have your page on the website for three years. After that it must be updated to keep it current.

Image specifications

• Up to five images per artist
• Scan images at higher resolution to get the best results when adjusting in Adobe Photoshop or other image-manipulation programme.
• Once cropped and adjusted, save images at 72 dpi (screen resolution) with a maximum dimension of no more than 16 cm in either direction. (In Photoshop, this is done by adjusting the file size under Image Size in the image menu), making an overall image size of between 300 and 600K before compression.
• Images should be saved as high-quality JPEG files. This should allow five images to be saved onto one floppy disk.
• Internet images use low-resolution files which download quickly.
Scanning service

To have images scanned, adjusted, etc, there is an additional charge of £15. Photographic prints are easiest for us to work with although slides may also be used, provided they are clean, in focus and have good colour balance. The designer cannot guarantee good results from poor quality originals. Your name, title of work and medium, along with an arrow indicating which way up, must be clearly written on the back of prints or on the slide mount.

Text

Text must be sent typed, saved on disk as a Word file, plain text or in your email. Typed information to accompany each image should include
• Name, title of work, dimensions, medium and date.
• A brief artist’s statement of 200 words or so.
• A condensed CV
• Email address and contact address, phone number, etc, if desired.
• Links to up to 3 other websites where you have images.
