SSA 125TH ANNUAL EXHIBITION: THE MACLAURIN ART GALLERY

2023 marks the 125th SSA Annual Exhibition and we are delighted to be marking this occasion in a new venue – The Maclaurin Art Gallery

Part of the historic Rozelle House complex in Ayr, The Maclaurin Art Gallery holds one of the country’s best collections of 20th and 21st century art, including works by John Bellany, Alan Davie, Patrick Heron, William McCance and Bridget Riley.  The Gallery’s patron is one of Scotland’s leading contemporary painters, Peter Howson OBE.

“Holding our prestigious Annual Exhibition in Ayr is a first for the SSA. We believe that increasing engagement with Scotland’s high quality regional galleries will give our members more opportunities to reach new audiences. It marks the first step of the SSA’s ambition to take the best of Scottish contemporary art to new places both on the national and international art circuits,” Vasile Toch, SSA President.

The SSA plays a unique and vital role in supporting and bringing together artists working across a wide range of very diverse disciplines. Artists anywhere in the world are invited to apply to be part of one of the largest shows of contemporary art in Scotland.

The SSA Annual Exhibition is produced and supported entirely by artists with no public funding. It will take place at The Maclaurin Art Gallery from 19 November 2023 – 14 January 2024.
