SSA Professional Member Georgina Bown’s The Ships Bottom has been selected for The Derwent Drawing Prize 2020.

Bown is drawn to the industrial, monstrous, engineered structures of the sea. This charcoal drawing is a large scale section of a ship. She is curious about the usually hidden details, what she call’s the ‘genitals’ of a sea vessels. When these elements are revealed these huge structures are exposed, vulnerable and un-functional. She is also fascinated by man-made structures where form is purely designed for its functional purpose.

Viewable online at Gallery OXO, London | June – August 2020
