BE PART OF THE GENERAL SUBMISSIONS SELECTION COMMITTEE 2026
We are looking for 3 members of the Scottish Society of Artists to be part of the General Submissions Selection Committee for the 128th Annual Exhibition.
The Scottish Society of Artists is an artist-led membership organisation and encourages all members to contribute to the Society and its activities.
WHAT’S INVOLVED?
You will be part of a committee of people responsible for selecting artworks for the exhibition, you will view and vote on artworks submitted digitally through the general submissions open call.
After the submission deadline has passed, you will be given access to the online voting system where you will have approx 3 weeks to look at each submission and cast your vote. This is done online in your own time before Friday 30 October 2026.
Previous exhibitions have attracted over 2000 submissions. Please be aware that looking at submissions does take time and you are required to view and vote on every artwork.
You will be required to attend a full-day in person meeting on Sunday 1 November 2026 to make the final pre-selections. This meeting will be held in a central location in either Edinburgh or Glasgow – tbc. You must be available on this date.
The selection committee is encouraged, where possible, to assist with the hanging and arranging of the exhibition on the following dates: 8,9,10,11 February 2027. Note you are not required to attend all dates.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
All members are welcome to apply. We are interested to hear from Society members who have not previously taken part in exhibition selection committees and from those who live outwith Edinburgh. (Travel expenses can be covered up to a limit).
We are keen to receive applications from artists working in a range of disciplines within the areas of painting, printmaking, textiles, photography, drawing and sculpture.
KEY DATES
Deadline to apply: Monday 14 September 2026, 9am
Notification: by Friday 25 September 2026
Access to voting: by Friday 9 October 2026
Selection completed: Friday 30 October 2026, 9am
Selection meeting: Sunday 1 November 2026, 10am – 5pm in Edinburgh/Glasgow – tbc
