From Edinburgh To The Moon is comprised of recent mixed-media paintings of Edinburgh cityscapes and Scottish coastal scenes, as well as a selection of hand-made prints. It marks SSA Artist Member Clive Ramage first solo show at Marchmont Gallery, although he has been a regular exhibitor here for over 6 years.
Clive’s first tentative steps to becoming an artist began right here in Marchmont 30 years ago, when he moved to the city to study an entirely different subject. A self-taught painter and printmaker, he has been working as a full-time artist since 2008.
Much of Clive’s work is an attempt to capture the atmosphere or mood of the places that fire his imagination. The paintings featured in this show have colour and drama in equal measure. They reflect not only the beautiful architecture of Edinburgh and the ramshackle villages of Fife’s East Neuk, but will also capture in Clive’s own personal way those moments when both light and our Scottish climate (as well as his self-confessed romantic sensibility) combine to create a magic of their own.
Clive’s paintings and prints have featured in many prestigious exhibitions, including the Royal Scottish Academy (RSA), the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour and the Society of Scottish Artists exhibitions.
