SSA member Ingrid Bell is holding an exhibition with Ann Stephens a textile artist, in the medieval town of Monflanquin, France.
The exhibition is partly collaborative and will include paintings, prints and textiles. Both artists have an interest in the bastide town of Monflanquin.
Ann resides not far from the town and holds numerous workshops throughout the year using organic methods for dying sourced from the surrounding area. She often uses antique french linen as a base for her imagery.
Ingrid is drawn to the town because of its unique architecture. She is fascinated by the unusual perspectives and how walking through this town challenges and disorientates the senses. Both artists have created an individual response to the town and through shared residency have co-created a number of large pieces together.
