SSA member Niall Campbell will be exhibiting a new series of paintings at Hawick Museum 18 August – 13 October. These paintings have been made over the past 2.5 years and are the result of an experiment to explore the idea of making images that start without any known outcome and to find out just exactly how random is random?
‘A crease in the canvas or an arbitrary mark starts a dialogue and the conversation begins. What follows is a constant state of flux, an exchange of opinion, argument and assertion, followed by lots of humming and hawing, further proposals and rumination — the inevitable cycle of this chosen pathway.’
Private View, 1 September, 2-4pm.
