I consider myself a traditional picture maker with the strongest influences from the worlds of illustration and landscape painting. My work looks at the environment around me and the spaces we live in - filtered through the craft skills of drawing, printmaking and painting. I think the best of my work expresses the visual poetic beauty of every-day life.

I was born in Aberdeen, studied at Gray's School of Art there and graduated with a Diploma in Fine Art. For most of my working life I have been an arts manager, spending time also as a community artist and theatre production designer – latterly owning and running The Creative Retreat, an art holiday centre and artists' retreat in Gardenstown on the Banffshire Coast. At the moment I am concentrating on art making, exhibiting, taking private commissions and illustration work and ocassionally teaching. My work is currently in private collections across the UK as well as in Germany, Norway, USA, Turkey, Australia and Canada.
