I am a maker: I enjoy the hands on, hand made feel to my work, whether this be cutting lino for printmaking or forming paper from various pulps. I find inspiration from my immediate environment although I am very aware of the space that one enters whilst in the creative process and the elements that this brings to my work.
The effect of moving into a new studio has lead me to use some time to revise and have a renewal of my ideas of my work.

Chrissie Heughan is one of the foremost creators of hand cast paper in the UK, merging traditional with contemporary techniques and has been working with a variety of paper fibres for over 20 years.

Since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 1995, Chrissie has pursued her own work and career as a professional artist and freelance tutor. She taught at Edinburgh College of Art until 2011, lecturing in papermaking, printmaking, mixed media and sketchbook work; various groups of the community, Artlink Central, primary and secondary schools.
