Clare is a Scottish Artist and Designer specialising in contemporary Botanical and Fine Art. Working in fine detail she uses heightened realism and vivid colours to create vibrant works, often in large scale, in gouache, watercolour, acrylic and pencil.

Trained as a designer, design is fundamental within her work and her pieces have a dramatic 3-dimensional quality. With a love of Nature and Classical Art forms she captures their beguiling beauty and fascination in extreme detail, re-examining what we perceive as ordinary and focusing our attention on their extraordinary qualities in a powerful and captivating way.

Clare graduated with a degree in Interior Design and worked for many years as a Senior designer with a contemporary design company.

In 2009 she graduated with a Distinction in Botanical Illustration from the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh (RBGE) and in 2010 received an RHS Gold Medal for a collection of 8 Vegetable paintings.

Since then she has tutored classes and exhibited in Edinburgh, London and the USA and her work has appeared in several books. She has gained many awards from National and International art exhibitions and several pieces are now in the RHS Lindley Library Art Collection, Hunt Institute in Pittsburgh as well as in private collections in the UK, USA and Australia. She continues to further develop her artwork and accepts commissions and art and design collaborations.
