My goal is to challenge my practice by developing skills as a painter to produce works that represent who I am and how I view and interpret the world around me.

I am a Scottish based artist, living in Edinburgh. My background has involved graphic design both as a practitioner and teacher which has engaged my love for design, composition and attention to detail, evident in my still life paintings. I spend a great deal of time sourcing interesting fabric patterns, with specific interest in the Arts and Crafts designer William Morris, Liberty fabrics and the rich traditional Eastern designs and colours.

My previous work as a botanical artist for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh has provided the basis for my floral images, preferring a more casual style in my work while still retaining the integrity of floral forms.

While still life painting is a constant, landscape and figurative work have and continue to be of great interest. I feel that the development of my work is enhanced through constantly challenging technique and subject matter.

Educated as a mature student in Chicago and New York, then in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen where I was fortunate to achieve under-graduate, post-graduate and doctorate qualifications. I am a member of the Chartered Society of Designers and actively involved in furthering my knowledge of design and fine art through research.
