Statement

I have been based in Edinburgh for 30 years. For many years I worked in the medium of wood engraving, producing both colour and black and white prints. Now I am also working with mono print and wood cut.
My main interest at present is the land and environment, although that has been a theme throughout my art practice in varying guises.
I use titles not as a description, but as a suggestion, or to express the contrary aspects of everyday life. I am interested in working outside of the box, so to speak. I am also interested in political interpretation in art, and in how artists self censor.
I have exhibited widely both in Scotland and abroad, and have work in many private collections as well as some public collections. Most recently, work is included in a large collection of wood engravings ( David Burnett bequest) at the Yale Centre for British Art, in the US.
