I am drawn to the Scottish coasts, both east and west, with their shores, boats and weather-worn sheds. Originally a zoologist, I have a continuing interest in the natural world, so am drawn to capture plants and flowers and less often, wildlife, in my watercolour paintings and sketches. Over the years I have spent much time on Scotland's west coast, watching the weather approach across the sea, and listening to the Shipping Forecast. These inspirations have come together in an ongoing series of watercolour paintings, all with titles inspired by the Shipping Forecast.

Jennifer worked for many years as a fish biologist at the University of Aberdeen, where she initially studied Zoology. She drew and painted as a child, but had no formal training in the arts. She started by attending weekly art classes in 2010 and has been developing her skills ever since. She paints mainly in watercolour and is inspired by a wide range of subjects, including coastal landscapes, boats, old sheds and Scottish flora and fauna. She also loves taking photographs.
