Fragments, stained and painted leaded glass

Over the years I have developed an increasingly expressive approach to both my painting and glass work and I feel there is a symbiotic relationship between them that continues to strengthen and influence the mark making within each discipline.

My inspiration comes from many areas, especially Historic Architecture and Archaeology. Recent work is based on the Architecture from Edinburgh, a rich source I find constantly challenging, I try to emulate the way the light surrounds a building, creating compositions that focus on the overall shapes of the architecture and yet contain subtle details, obscured and faded.

I trained in stained-glass in the early nineties at Edinburgh College of Art. I have created stained glass for many public and private buildings across Scotland and won awards for my paintings at the RGI and the RSW. I am an elected Associate member of the British Society of Master Glass Painters and a Professional Member of the Society of Scottish Artists and until recently the Chair of the Scottish Glass Society.
