Living and working in the Edinburgh New Town, my work is inspired by the surrounding Georgian Architecture. I use a combination of materials including collage, paint, print making, drawing and hot wax, to reconstruct distinctively ‘Edinburgh’ architectural features. A collector of old maps and books, wherever possible, I construct my collages with relevant texts and images, creating unique ‘building portraits’, which have a literary as well as visual story.
Graduating from Norwich School of Art, I initially returned home to Wales and exhibited in private and public galleries and exhibitions such as the Wales Drawing Biennale, the University of Aberystwyth and Oriel 31 in Newtown, winning their annual Open award twice.
Since moving to Edinburgh five years ago, besides exhibiting regularly in commercial galleries in Edinburgh, I have been selected to show in the RSA, SSA and RSW Opens, had a solo show at the Scottish Storytelling Centre, was Artist in Residence for the StAnza poetry festival in St Andrews 2015/16, and featured in the BBC documentary 'Newtown' in October 2016.
