Statement

*"Hozho": a term used by Navajo Weavers' meaning to "walk in beauty".

I combine the traditional craft of hand-loom weaving with contemporary materials and designs to create collections of hand-woven and hand-dyed, fine art textiles.

The inspiration for my work comes from the natural world around me and I try, wherever possible, to use natural and recycled materials. Whilst studying weaving at art college, I became interested in the Navajo concept of "Hozho", where there is balance, harmony and interconnection between art, work and nature. I feel very strongly that this is a good principle to live by and I try to apply it to my own practice.

Recurring themes within my work are colour, shimmering light, childhood magic, memories and emotions. The aim of my designs is to provoke a sense of wonder and tranquility.
