Statement
Statement |
A move from the city to the countryside at the end of 2020 has had a deep impact on an evolving practice, acting as an impetus to explore long held interests in place, personal/collective memory, loss and belonging through the lens of landscape and the natural environment. Based at Tweedvale Studios in Walkerburn, my practice incorporates drawing, collage, printmaking and sculpture. Through drawing/printmaking processes, I work primarily in monochrome using inks and charcoal, exploring the properties of the media in terms of application and mark-making. I rejoice in the ebb and flow of these materials and the juxtaposition or layering of forms and imagery to conjure an atmosphere or allude to a narrative rather than providing a fixed meaning. |
