Statement

Statement

Flesh is everywhere in my creative practice. Instead of considering the body as a self-contained whole, its gory mysteries neatly shrink-wrapped in skin, I open up the boundaries between inside and outside, body and not body, self and other, questioning the lines between internal and external environments and examining how our mental state affects our bodies and vice versa.Meat is a stand-in for the material body; I knot it, stitch it and arrange it, then incorporate it into photographs, videos, prints and drawings that are visual investigations of the overlaps and tensions between flesh, mind and sense of self.
