Statement
| Statement | I am lucky to live in the North West Coast of Scotland where the spectacular landscape constantly changes according to the weather and dramatic light. Depending on the subject matter my interpretation can be abstract or figurative. Working from direct observation, sometimes photographs as well as memory I make initial studies using collage and paint, elements of which are used in the final piece. Focusing on colour, shape and texture I use a variety of media to interpret different aspects of my investigations. Although my abstract work is mostly intuitive I believe it is often inspired by my natural surroundings. I enjoy playing with colour and texture inviting the the viewer to examine all areas of the painted surface. |
