Sandra Greenacre ‘The Friday Painter’

Painting excites me and I take a lot of inspiration from nature.  I first developed my craving to paint nearly thirty years ago whilst expecting my daughter, strange but true! I do like to explore different mediums and ideas in response to my chosen subject. I also like to work intuitively with energetic fast brush strokes to capture the raw energy and beauty of nature.  I often work with a bright bold vibrant palette to enhance the dynamics of a landscape and light that permeates nature’s landscapes. Other times I will work with a limited colour palette, depending on the feel of  that particular location I have visited.  Equally I enjoy the challenge of painting inner landscapes which have come from my imagination in response to such things as  music or poems.

Painting is a very big part of my life and I seem to have a stream of endless ideas which I love to share with anyone who will listen!

The name ‘Friday Painter’ came about whilst painting to classical music by Borodin, a 19th Century composer, a doctor and chemist by profession but known as the Sunday Composer , this being his only his day off. Friday was my non working day and suddenly I had a light bulb moment and hence the name The Friday Painter was conceived!
