SSA Professional Members Denise Zygadlo and Silvana McLean are showing as part of Surge at Patriothall Gallery, Stockbridge, Edinburgh until Sunday 10th September.

Curated from an open call to the Upland membership, Surge is Upland’s first exhibition which aims to highlight the breadth and depth of its artistic community, presenting work from artists at different stages of their careers.

With a focus on new or recent work, the exhibition features a varied range of practice including painting, printmaking, ceramics, mixed media, photography and video.

The twelve artists selected are:
Andrew Adair, Katie Anderson, Maggie Ayres, Patricia Cain, Bea Last, Rory Laycock, Silvana McLean, Morag Paterson, Sarah Stewart, Colin Tennant, Amy Winstanley and Denise Zygadlo.

Connected primarily through place, being either based in or from the vast rural region of Dumfries and Galloway, these artists are diverse yet display some overlapping concerns within their practice. The exhibition seeks to give a platform to work that is experimental and cross-disciplinary.
