My work reflects the emotional and instinctive responses that I have to a particular concept, place or situation. I am constantly inspired to draw and paint the world around me, be that an entire landscape or one small element within it. The enigmatic beauty and quiet power of still life is a developing thread within my work. A fascination with symbolism is apparent at times in both my abstract and representational work.

I like to use a wide range of dry and wet media and developing my skills in new directions is a big part of what motivates me as an artist. My greatest motivation, however, is the magic of being able to express ideas, emotional states and recreate atmospheres using a visual language.

I am from a Scottish family, raised in England and currently living in North Wales. In my late twenties, my professional life as an artist began with creating equestrian portraits. As a trainer of horses, I was constantly aware of their beauty and power. It was a natural progression towards portraying them in drawings and paintings, several of which are now in private collections in the UK and Europe. From this, and from a life long interest in art history, grew a desire to study and practice art. I am now fortunate to be able to focus upon it full-time and build a career as an artist. I am represented by Hansford and Sons Fine Art, a selection of my work is available to buy through their Emerging Artist Platform.
