I came to painting late in life. Having taken early retirement and made a permanent move to the Scottish Borders, I decided to try my hand at painting. My previous experience with woodcarving had given me an invaluable grounding in producing pieces of art. In particular, I very much enjoy using antler or horn when creating animal works but where a work requires something of a specific shape that I'm unable to source I will carve what I need from a suitable piece of wood. The use of horn, antler and carving adds an unexpected dimension to my work that often surprises the viewer and adds depth and intrigue that is quite unique. I hope you find them interesting.
