MICRO RESIDENCY 2026 AT MORAY SCHOOL OF ART

The BA (Hons) Fine Art programme at the University of the Highlands & Islands is delighted to partner with the Society of Scottish Artists to offer a two-week micro residency at Moray School of Art, Elgin.

Residency Overview

The selected artist will be given a dedicated studio space and access to Moray School of Art’s specialist facilities, including:

  • Screen printing, etching, and relief printmaking
  • Woodwork and casting workshops
  • Darkroom facilities
  • Fine art library, Mac suite, and digital print facilities

During the residency, the artist will be expected to engage with the student and staff community. This may take the form of a half-day workshop, presentation, lecture, performance, and an artist talk with students and alumni.

The residency will culminate in a solo exhibition of up to two weeks in MSA’s dedicated gallery space. The exhibition may include works-in-progress created during the residency alongside earlier works. Final details will be confirmed with the selected artist.

Fees and Support

  • From Moray School of Art: £250 artist fee for delivering a talk/presentation, plus exhibition preview, refreshments, and marketing support.
  • From the Society of Scottish Artists: £500 contribution towards travel and accommodation, along with promotion of the residency and exhibition.

Please note: artists are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodation.
