Statement

Statement

I am a Scottish multidisciplinary artist, writer, and curator based in Glasgow. My research-driven practice navigates the intersections of multiple modes of cultural production, exploring notions of affect and emotion within socio-political contexts, and institutional critique.

I gravitate toward indefinite and slippery mediums, working largely with text, film, and installation, often engaging with autotheoretical approaches, and utilising writing as a nonlinear tool throughout my process. My work seeks to adapt a constellatory model, and centrally examines the “para” within the “paracuratorial,” reflecting on what it means to be beside something—beside oneself, looking at oneself—and, in doing so, uncovering connections between personal and collective experience.

My artistic work exists as just one point within a larger process of production, within which I embed my experiences of working in the arts sector, particularly within the funding and programming landscape. I seek to champion cross-disciplinary production, alternative curatorial methodologies, and to reimagine knowledge formats, whilst centring engagement with feminist and affect theories.
