| Biography | Born in London of Scottish descent, Diane studied Modern Languages at University College London, then built up a successful career as a portrait painter while following her husband in his business career in West African countries and South Africa. She exhibited at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and won many commissions in the USA and Canada as well as in the UK.
She took a second degree in Fine Art as a mature student and built an international reputation as a sculptor and installation artist working in the environment on the large scale, inviting interaction with the public. Her sculptures can be seen in many cities and universities throughout the UK and abroad. In 2014 her sculpture Open Book waschosen to be gifted by HM the Queen to the City of Paris. She has taken part in international symposiums, exhibitions and events in many countries including Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Japan, China and Canada.
Her sculptures are a response to a place, a theme, or an idea. They emerge in varying forms but are linked by her use of materials such as stainless steel combined with light, reflection, colour and movement. |
