Not allowed to take ‘A’ Level art af school because “it won’t get you into University,” I had to put art on hold until running my own business gave me the freedom and time to devote to it. I then went back to basics at the City Lit in Holborn, London, devoting myself to drawing, painting and collage.   On returning to Edinburgh I have continued to undertake a variety of courses including year-long courses with Leith School of Art.

I have a PhD in Social Policy from Edinburgh University, and spent two years in group analysis for people in the caring professions. The thread throughout my career has been developing people, and this has taken me into a range of different settings including  Barnardo’s, tertiary education, whisky manufacturing, local authorities and the senior civil service. Latterly I have run my own coaching business, coaching senior leaders in the public sector.

I am currently completing my training with the Epiphany Group with a view to becoming a spiritual director.
