Statement
| Statement | I dreamed about a wild boar last night, standing behind a garden fence put in place to keep nature out. He looked at me then turned his back and headed off into the forest. I wondered if I should follow… My world-building uses the landscape as a theatrical set for narratives to unfold. Encompassing painting, assemblage, drawing and printmaking, I fabricate an imaginative impression of place that is observed from the real world. Discarded things (manufactured and natural) are assembled into romantic landscapes within model box constructions. These are then drawn and painted from, as a way to comment on man-made waste and its’ position within our natural environments. In a consumerist culture that values exploitation of the land, I hope my work re-awakens a sense of wonder, restoring connection to the natural world. |
