Statement

In my paintings I aim to capture the emotion of love. To achieve this I use simple colours and brushstrokes, with elements of abstraction within basic figurative forms. I avoid inconsequential details that would detract from the emotion. I want to make the heart sing and bring pleasure to people not normally interested in art.

Biography

Biography

I studied at Edinburgh College of Art (1964-1969) and The Royal College of Art (1969-1972), where I was awarded the Henriques Prize for best woman artist. In 2022, I won the Edinburgh Printmakers Publishing Award at the 196th Annual Exhibition of the Royal Scottish Academy.

I have had solo exhibitions at the Arusha Gallery (Edinburgh) in 2015 and 2018.

My work has been selected for numerous mixed exhibitions, including at the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and Grayson’s Art Club, 2nd Exhibition (Bristol Museum and Art Gallery).
