Abstract

Statement

Statement

I work in molten glass, creating contemporary hand-blown pieces that captivate with their elegance and simplicity. My forms are often simple and tactile, heavily influenced by my early Scandinavian glass training.

My designs are characterised by clean lines, subtle colour palettes, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the material. With each piece, whether a vase or a sculptural form, I try and reflect the meticulous attention to detail.

My designs often reveal a sense of movement, I like my audience to touch my tactile forms.

My colour palette is influenced by a mix of the Swedish and the Scottish landscape as well as India, where I spent a year travelling and networking with glass artists. My time in India sparked the use of gold leaf and bringing bright colours into my work.

Memories of Sweden, still provide me with endless inspiration, especially in my larger sand cast sculptures. Recalling rock formations and ice textures from visiting the north of Sweden as a child, these are explored and visualised in presenting colours, light and deep textures within my sand cast sculptures. This technique combines blown elements that I then encase into molten glass.
