I stopped oil painting almost 40yrs ago.  Mostly due to my full time job as arts and crafts instructor to physical and mentally handicapped adults, and many other time consuming art projects. This sadly had to end having been diagnosed with Macular Degeneration in both eyes and also having to give up driving. My wife and two sons saw how bored I was and encouraged me to use the paints and blank canvases i had stored away- to see if I could still paint. In 2020 (aged 81), my interest was re-awakend. Since then I have painted at least 34 scenes of Scotland’s grandeur (especially my favourite- Scotland’s castles) and scenes from my foreign holidays in malta and teneriffe. The difference in style and detail from my earlier paintings is due to my failing eyesight, but will not deter me.
