Statement
| Statement | I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art 1n 2015 and now live and work in Edinburgh. I mainly paint but also work with film – both present challenges in creating interesting imagery though the relationship of line, colour and form. As a student I spent a year in the old Lady Victoria coal mine, now the Scottish National Mining Museum, in Newtongrange, drawing, painting and photographing the derelict and decaying colliery buildings, the pithead and the surrounding area and landscapes. In 2012 the Museum invited me to stage a solo exhibition of paintings, photographs and film. Since then I have continued to explore and produce works on similar themes linked to landscape and industry. I am associated with a local community group at Bridgend Farmhouse in the south side of Edinburgh and contribute film, sound recording and photographic images for community projects relating to the surrounding Inch and Craigmillar area. I have been fortunate to have travelled a fair amount within Scotland and the UK, as well as abroad. These experiences have provided a rich source of subjects for my artwork.
