Statement

Statement

I am a full-time, Edinburgh-based visual artist whose creative practice was revitalised upon returning to Scotland in 2019 following two decades of immersion in diverse cultures abroad. This international experience has broadened my artistic perspective and deepened my appreciation for cross-cultural influences. Since my return, I have pursued experimentation, collaboration, and critical dialogue as core principles of my evolving practice.

I work primarily with egg tempera, a medium I began exploring in 2023 through traditional methods on gesso boards and panels. Central to my practice is the exploration of the interplay between historical techniques and contemporary materials, intending to reveal their narrative and emotional potential. My practice has since evolved to include painting on air-dry clay and integrating recycled materials such as discarded packaging, shoreline finds, dog hair, and sheep’s wool. These tactile choices not only challenge traditional boundaries but also foster intimate dialogues between material, process, and meaning.
