Statement

Lawrence Nowosad’s current work draws on classical motifs, using still life objects and figurative work as a starting point combined with contemporary elements to convey a period of flux, transition and reconstruction. This art practice generally begins with photographic capture. It incorporates images from several different sources. Digital drawing is utilised to blend, corrode and distract as required.

He is an artist who is at home with Lens-Based Capture, Digital Imaging, Print Making, Sculpture and Time Based Media.

Biography

Born in Edinburgh and a member of the Edinburgh Printmakers since 2011, Lawrence Nowosad has been interested in mixed media working since combining photography and video in his first course of study at Napier University. Blending these skills commercially with animation and graphic design led to studying for a Masters in Multimedia. He has taught Art & Design and Photography at Further Education Colleges in Edinburgh and West Lothian.

He has contributed work to Hope Exhibition at Edinburgh Printmakers November ’24 – March ’25 and to the SSA 126 th Annual Show at the RSA, Edinburgh. He has previously displayed artwork at the Edinburgh Printmakers Actinic show in 2015. He has had solo exhibitions in Edinburgh, Ayr and Amsterdam.  Lawrence Nowosad has also participated in group shows in Scotland and Denmark.
