Statement

Statement

These paintings are an illustration of my practice of ‘Encaustic ‘ painting where wax and resin are heated, pigments are added and mixed and then applied to a wood panel and finally bonded with heat. The use of wax (microcrystalline and beeswax) with their inherent richness and transparency along with the process of layering and scrapping back has enabled the creation of these abstractions.

The formal elements of the paintings, the structures of horizontals and verticals, support the methodical yet painterly process, enable the play of spatial dynamics and allow references to icons, thresholds, portals and horizons.
