Statement
| Statement | I have a passion for print and all images with a strong narrative. My intentions and responses are to “carve out” what I see from the ‘inside’ and ‘draw it out*. I grew up impacted by artists that threw a strong emotional punch from Norah Nelson Gray and Stanley Spencer to Durer, Brugel and Anton Lock’s prints from the 1920s. Any artist that took the time to look at the present moment and engrave its evocative colours and marks in steel and copper, swiping tones of ink, I saw as genius. That took me deeper into their vision as artists and it has always inspired me. In short, focus, contemplation, internal connection and clear intention is what my art is all about. I hope it is ever-changing, because what I see and feel is. |
