Statement
| Statement | Sally Price is an Edinburgh-based visual artist and creative facilitator with a textiles background, and graduated with a degree in Embroidery from Manchester School of Art in 2013. Her practice encompasses expansive drawing, sculpture, painting, installation and craft, as well as socially-engaged work, and is driven by immersion in process, curiosity around material properties, and a fascination with viscerality. An interested in how we interact with, react to, and relate to the physicality of materials is explored through abstract intuitive making and drawing. Tension, catharsis and repetition are themes in her work, and often aspects of it are generative; it is an ongoing conversation between her will and the will of the material. Sustainability and the climate crisis is also always considered in her work through evocative or sustainable material choice.
Her socially-engaged work involves devising and leading visual art workshops, programmes and projects that promote connection with creativity, community and the environment. She works with various organisations in Edinburgh to deliver this work as a freelance Artist Educator, and co-founded Art Buds Collective, an organisation that championed creative connection with nature. She is available for private sales, commissions, workshops and socially engaged projects. |
